Mama, I Miss You!

Mama, I Miss You!

“A mother is your first friend, your best friend, your forever friend.”

All of us will unanimously agree that the best example of unconditional and pure love in this world is that of a mother for her child. From the day you are conceived, she treats you as the ultimate blessing of God and nurtures you in the safe confines of her womb, even though it is a physical discomfort for her. She pays little heed to the immense labour pain she has just undergone to give birth to you as she cradles you in her loving arms. And each moment after that is dedicated towards raising you in the best possible way. Such is the bond between a mother and child that the first word learnt by most children is “Mama”.

Indeed, mothers make immeasurable sacrifices throughout their lives for the sake of their children, notwithstanding their economic background. I have known of mothers who have gone hungry to ensure their child is well fed; there are others who have smilingly given up their careers and dreams for giving their undivided attention to raising their children. And this aspect of motherhood is not restricted to human beings alone. There are numerous examples of mothers across all species even sacrificing their lives for protecting their offspring. What better illustration of selfless love can there be on this planet! We probably will never come to know about these sacrifices because no mother will ever reveal these, as it may be a source of unhappiness to the child.

For children, mother is the ultimate essence of love and devotion. Every child will narrate his or her efforts in all their endeavours to the mother, knowing fully well that she will lavish praise and encouragement even when the rest of the world is sceptical. In return, every child, in his or her own way, tries to bring a smile to the mother. Whether it means buying something for her with your first salary or remembering to send her flowers on her birthday, I’m sure all of you must have made these small gestures to make her feel special. And there is little doubt that she would remember and cherish these till the end of her life. I will relate a small incident from my own life to drive home the point. My mother had to go out of town for a few days when I was a 12-year-old. There was no administrative inconvenience to me as my father was available at home along with all other comforts. However, I missed my mother every day. I missed the fact that there was no one forcing me for an extra helping at meals or someone coming to recheck if I’m comfortably sleeping in my bed. There was a distinctive sound of bangles when she used to walk around the house, which I really missed and I mentioned this on her return. Till this day, many decades later, she recollects that when she returned from her trip, the first thing I told her was that I missed the sound of her bangles clanging against each other when she went about her day’s work. Imagine the impact on her! Isn’t this an instance depicting a mother’s innate love for her children and vice versa? I can relate numerous other instances of connecting with my mother, which I’m sure will resonate with you all, but I feel that one small blog space is absolutely inadequate to bring out such a profound emotion.

Do you remember the many occasions when your mother surprised you with your favorite dish or an unexpected gift? Or all those times when she belligerently went against anyone tormenting you in your childhood? One can never really repay the one who has not only brought you into this world, but has showered her unwavering maternal affection throughout your life, with all its ups and downs. But you can surely make her day by showing that you care, that you remember her. And what better occasion for this, than Mother’s Day?

HVNLY perfumes has recently added four new perfumes to its ‘pour femme’ collection, in addition to the existing perfumes for the lady. Further, the ‘Bottled Fresh’ initiative enables you to access a freshly bottled perfume in order to experience the aromas in situ.

So, what are you waiting for? This Mother’s Day, make your mama feel like the queen she deserves to be by gifting her a ‘Bottled Fresh’ perfume of her favourite scent. This is not an advertisement, it is simply giving you an option for reaching out to your mom in a special way. So take your call and order accordingly…but don’t forget to gift her something on Mother’s Day.
