OCEAN’S FRESH

OCEAN’S FRESH

The one thing that every human being cherishes is freedom…Freedom to think and act, freedom to follow your heart, freedom to be yourself. The sea, with its vast openness, has always been a symbol of freedom and an inspiration. To quote Robert Wyland, “The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul”. Indeed, even a walk on the sea shore with the breeze ruffling your hair infuses one’s soul with the freshness of the oceans. This sensuous, marine-fresh impression is created by the use of Ozonic notes in perfumery. One of the newest notes (introduced in 1988) in perfumes, Ozonic, also known as Aqua or Oceanic, imparts an aura of clean freshness that transports you to a fantasy world. The Free Dictionary available online lists the meaning of Ozonic as “Fresh, pure air”. By virtue of its watery freshness, Ozonic perfumes give a clean and polished sense of fashion to the wearer. While this note has been used extensively in Men’s perfumes since its introduction, this has also been a much sought-after scent by the fairer sex too. We have to thank Chemistry (referring to the science and not the equation between lovers 😊) for giving us the Ozonic note. The genesis of the Ozonic note lies in a compound called Calone 1951, developed accidentally by Pfizer, while searching for a food additive. Pure Calone has an intense, fresh, marine smell with melon or green nuances. With chemists tweaking the molecular composition of Calone, different variants such as Transluzone, Azurone, Cascalone and Aldolone have emerged with slightly different smells and characteristics. Perfumers have used their creativity to add floral, fruity or mossy overtones to the marine, green-melon, freshness of ozonic to create beautiful compositions, making this one of the bestselling perfume types since the 1990s. Experience the freedom and freshness with Pleasure , where Ozonic has been used as a heart note.
